Vicki was born in Toledo, Ohio, but spent her formative years in Florida. From an early age she was an avid reader and won her first writing award in the seventh grade. Her other passion was ballet. Even at the University of Florida she danced as well as studied English Literature. Upon graduation she headed north to New York City where she studied acting. Though she achieved some minor success she returned to her true passion, writing. Vicki penned several short stories one, of which, was the basis for the short film, “Tortured.”
After living and working in the city for a couple of years she fell in love and married. With the support of her new husband she began her first novel. Two years later, I Don’t know Jack came into being and she never looked back.
The next step was grad school and a few months after she graduated from The New School with her MFA in Creative Writing. She also became a mom. Her next novel was written before, during and after the birth of her son, quite a test for consistency, but a wonderfully unique experience.
Now she is teaching creative writing at Art House Astoria, learning all about shameless self-promotion and raising her beautiful boy!
Short stories are the place to play with characters and scenarios. I love both reading and writing these intricate snippets of time.
I believe a well-crafted novel can both inspire and entertain. My goal is to touch the heart and the mind of my readers.
For me this culminates in my blog. Thoughtful wonderings of the day that lead to a more intimate look into our world.
